Bayero Agabi not too long ago won West Africa's best Information and Communication Technology reporter of the year. The award was presented at the Nigeria Information and Communication technology awards, NIITA 2003. The judges described Agabi's winning entry as an embodiment of well-researched, balanced analytical reports. They added that he took his time deliberately to teach and create interest in ICT. The panelists, in examining Bayero's winning entry described it as an embodiment of beautiful prose on television screen. He was also commended for the insightful manner of presentation that servesto inform a wide audiencestill largely ignorant of the basic issues and trends in the ICT industry. Agabi was a pioneer member of the prestigious AIT Kaakaki news crew as editor and part of the coordinating teamfor The Parliament, a programme that won several accolades for its daring posture on political issues during the turbulent era of military in the 90s.
Bayero has gained massive recognition winning the in-house AIT Best News Reporter, and Best ICT Radio Programme award by the Computer Association of Nigeria COAN now NCS). He has won the COAN Best ICT TV programme award and the International Award for Excellence.
