FG nominates Igho, Juwah, 2 others for NCC

The Senate in Nigeria is reported to be screening 4 names one of them Dr Ikemefuna Juwah, a telecommunications engineer, as federal government’s nominee for the position of Executive Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission. Other nominees are: Peter Egbe Igho as chairman, Okey Itanyi as Commissioner and Mohammed Bintube as Commissioner.

SIM Card Registration:Bad implementation of a good project - by Abi Bilesanmi

It was in 2002 while the first sets of mobile telephones which employ the GSM standard were rolling out in Nigeria that a call was made for a registration of their users. Mr. Titi Omo-Ettu, telecommunications engineer, who made the call at the time is the President of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria, ATCON, now when the call seems to have been endorsed by the industry regulator, NCC. But Titi Omo-Ettu says the project is a badly implemented one in the form of a SIM Card Registration. BB4NG Releases Forum Plan of Events

The  attempt by concerned Nigerians to encourage and assist government to provide broadband internet access to all Nigerians no matter their status, station, and location, has taken the form of a Full Stakeholders Forum on the subject scheduled for Abuja, Wednesday July28, 2010.

In a Time table released by Dr Ibrahim Aminu, Convener of the event, the summit will hold from 10am in the morning to 4.00pm and all Nigerians have been invited to come to make input to the work which has been done under the support of a few institutions and individuals.
